Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That is because the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for decades. Guests from many of the surrounding states get in trucks and visit Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) became law after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. Since that time, 23 of the 39 Indian tribes of Oklahoma have introduced gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the wagering restrictions, and today run 10 casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which these gambling dens were built on. digital games such as slots were not permitted, on the grounds that they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law have altered to permit gigantic Indian gambling casinos. You will now see Amerindian gambling dens with slot machine games, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Native gambling halls yet, but that is only a matter of time. Nobody can say with what having other games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
