A lot has been stated in the papers not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt because of the cigarette ban in Britain. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However does the net adaptation of this classic game present a escape, or will it never compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?
Bingo is an age old game generally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had seen a recent comeback in appeal with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo parlours rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to change with the introduction of the cigarette ban all over England and Wales.
Players will no longer be permitted to smoke whilst marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favorite areas where folks like to smoke.
The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already barred in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they haven’t forgotten this established game?
The answer is on the web. Gamblers are now realizing that they can participate in bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at monstrous jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course betting on on the web can never replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the rules have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with little alternative.
