The Wonderful World of Internet Bingo! Could the Cigarette Ban in Britain Take Bingo Players Online?
Nov 072022

An abundance has been talked in the press just a while ago about the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the smoking ban in the United Kingdom. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge aid to help keep the businesses afloat. But can the online variation of this traditional game offer a lifeline, or will it in no way compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo is an ancient game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game of late had experienced a recent return in acceptance with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo parlours rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti cigarette law across UK.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most favorite locations where folks like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already prohibited in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Certainly they haven’t cast aside this ancient game?

The answer is on the internet. Gamblers realise that they can enjoy bingo in front of their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and smoke and still have a chance at massive prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course gambling on on the web is unlikely to replace the collective portion of going down to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with little option.
