An abundance has been stated in the papers not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt as a consequence of the anti smoking law in Britain. Things have grown so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. However can the web version of this classic game offer a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its bricks and mortar relative?
Bingo has been an age old game historically played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game lately had witnessed a recent return in appeal with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlours instead of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enacting of the anti cigarette law all over Britain.
No longer will enthusiasts be able to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public area will not be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most favored locations where people enjoy smoking.
The results of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlours. Profits have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not deserted this classic game?
The answer is online. People realise that they can enjoy bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and fag and in the end, enjoy massive cash rewards. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened almost perfectly with the anti smoking law.
Of course gambling on on the net is unlikely to replace the collective aspect of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a group of people the governing edicts have left a number of bingo players with no choice.
