Could the Anti Cigarette Law in the UK Drive Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web? Bingo in Oklahoma
Feb 232016

A lot has been talked in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a result of the smoking ban in the UK. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive aid to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. But can the online version of this classic game present a escape, or might it never compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?

Bingo has been an ancient game usually enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game lately had experienced a recent increase in popularity with younger people deciding to hit the bingo parlours rather than the bars on a Friday night. All this is about to be reversed with the enforcement of the anti cigarette law throughout Britain.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will not be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most popular areas where players like to puff on cigarettes.

The effects of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlours. Numbers have dropped and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not abandoned this enduring game?

The answer is on the net. Players realize that they can play bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and still enjoy massive cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course betting on online is unlikely to replace the social portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the law has left a lot of bingo players with no option.
